Legal English Courses

In our globalized world, now more than ever there is a greater demand for law firms in Argentina to provide their services not only in Spanish but also in English, the current dominant lingua franca in international law and business.

Legal English is far more complex than day to day English, with specific terminology and vocabulary that are essential to master to ensure precise, mutual comprehension with English speaking clients. In the legal world accuracy is of paramount importance for this reason we believe it is essential to gain more complex English language skills in the field of international law. For a practitioner to be confident and accurate in their communication with English speaking customers their knowledge must go beyond that of standard conversational English. Our objective is to ensure that you will be able offer your clients the same level of professionalism in English as in your native language.

Contract Law

  • Course description

A contract is a written or verbal agreement regarding an obligation that is enforceable by law. Contracts appear in all aspects of life, for instance in formal circumstances such as a bank loan, a mortgage, will and testament but also in informal environments where the ‘contract’ is not as obvious such as paying for a room at a hotel, downloading software or an agreement with a builder to paint your house.

Our course on contract law aims to guide you through all the essential elements of a contract, the steps required, the differences and complexities between verbal and written contracts, how to create a legally binding contract and also to understand essentially why we need contracts and what purpose they serve.

This course features up to date case samples and video-conference technology to deliver online speaking, reading and listening exercises and tasks. After each lesson your comprehension will be checked through multiple choice exercises. You will also study mock common scenarios in a law practice that will enable you to put into practice your new vocabulary and knowledge acquired. Particular attention is given to the specific terminology and vocabulary that lawyers need working in this field.
